Messiah: A Higher Name

GKMGKM

The Messiah heals and saves, no matter what the news may say!

Messiah simply means “the anointed one” or “the chosen one.” In Old Testament times, prophets, priests, and kings were anointed by oil when they were set apart for positions of responsibility. The anointing was a sign that God chose and consecrated them for the work He gave them to do.

Jesus is the Messiah—the One chosen and anointed to save His people from their sins. After the resurrection, the apostle Peter reminded those listening to him “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. And we,” Peter said, “are witnesses of all things which He did.”

Jesus claimed to be the Messiah. When He talked with a woman at a well in Samaria, she said, “I know the Messiah is coming, the one who is called Christ. When He comes, He will tell us all things.” Jesus responded and said: “I am the Messiah!”

Today, Jesus is still the Messiah—God’s chosen, anointed One who came to free us from sin and deliver us from Satan. As the Messiah, Jesus offers you peace in times of trouble, healing in times of sickness and forgiveness for your sins. “Come to Me… and you will find rest for your souls.”
