Crisis or intense human experiences often lead to new discoveries of God – fresh revelations of his person, character and nature.
As Abraham faced the greatest trial of his life, he received the greatest revelation about our Heavenly Father. “And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, in the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.” Genesis 22:14
In his moment of great anguish, God revealed himself to Abraham as Jehovah Jireh – “the Lord who sees.” Or, in contemporary terms, “God will see to it.” It’s a name that speaks of provision.
God sees our need before it arises and makes provision for it. We often discover more of our loving father’s nature during our difficult times. In providing for us in times of need, Jehovah Jireh manifests himself.
Have you come to know him as this kind of God? “And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee.” (Psalm 9:10)
