Transformed by Faith

Genesis 12:1-4

Abram was definitely a man of great faith. If you have doubts, read this passage and really allow what’s happening to sink in. Here is God asking Abram to leave everything he has known his whole life for the unknown. God was specific in saying, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household.” It gives us a background of how much was required for Abram to step out in faith. He would have to leave his country, his community and his family. It was where he grew up, where he made memories, where he got married and had children and grandchildren. It was home.

But God asks him to leave it all behind for this unknown land God will eventually show him. There’s no plan, no map, no knowledge of a final destination. Most of us may have simply pretended we didn’t hear the Lord actually speak to us. But the Bible tells us, “So Abram went, as the Lord had told him.” What a great act of faith. It almost seems like it was an easy decision – so Abram just picked up his family and went as the Lord told him.

In order to act in faith, we have to set aside what we think should happen or what we feel should happen, and submit to the spoken word of God. Faith begins with the word of God, but it will develop into a purposeful walk of surrender and obedience.

Is the Lord asking you to step out in faith in an area of your life?

Write down any fears you may have and ask the Lord to take them from you, so you can walk in complete obedience to His word.
